We are seeking a skilled and experienced Kitchen Assistant to support high-quality food production and efficient catering services across the school, maintaining food safety, hygiene, and organisation for students, staff, and visitors.

Position: Kitchen Assistant

Reporting to: Sous Chef

Position Type: Full-Time (Including occasional evenings and weekends as required)

Role Overview: The successful individual will provide operational support within the kitchen, assisting with food preparation, cleaning and general kitchen organisation while maintaining high standards of hygiene and operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

Minimum of 3 years’ relevant operational or hospitality experience.

Experience in butchery or meat preparation.

Desirable

Minimum Qualification: OND, Diploma in Hospitality, or a related field.

Experience within large-scale catering or hospitality operations

Food Safety and Hygiene certification.

Experience in a school or boarding environment.

Skills & Competencies

Key Responsibilities

1.Kitchen Support:

i. Support daily kitchen operations and food preparation activities.

ii. Assist with food preparation, cleaning and general kitchen organisation.

iii. Assist with the preparation, trimming, cutting and portioning of meat, poultry and other proteins as required.

iv. Support stock handling, storage and proper food preservation procedures within kitchen areas.

2. Hygiene & Safety:

i. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across kitchen areas.

ii. Support hygiene, safety and operational standards.

iii. Ensure compliance with food safety and cleaning procedures.

3.Team Collaboration:

i. Work collaboratively with colleagues across the catering department.

ii. Support operational requirements during busy service periods and events.

iii. Assist chefs and supervisors with operational tasks as required.
