Cleaning and Laundry Supervisor

Supervise daily cleaning operations across academic buildings, boarding houses, staff accommodation, offices and shared/public spaces.

Supervise daily cleaning of covered walkways, including ceilings, pathways, and glass windows.

Allocate daily cleaning duties and staff rotas.

Conduct regular inspections to ensure standards are met.

Address cleanliness issues promptly and escalate persistent concerns.

Liaise with external cleaning contractors where applicable to ensure service standards are met.

Schedule and undertake deep cleaning during holiday periods
-
Oversee staff and student laundry services.

Ensure effective systems for collection, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and return of laundry
-
Monitor turnaround times and resolve delays or errors
-
Ensure correct use and basic care of laundry equipment and report faults.

Supervise cleaning and laundry staff on shift.
-
Ensure staff follow cleaning schedules, hygiene standards, and safe working practices.

Support induction and on-the-job training for new staff.
-
Monitor attendance, punctuality, and conduct.
-
Escalate performance or disciplinary concerns appropriately.

Monitor stock levels of cleaning chemicals, detergents, PPE, and consumables
-
Monitor stock levels of mattresses, bed linen, towels and other linens
-
Request re-orders in a timely manner

Ensure correct storage and safe handling of materials

Support stock audits and waste reduction

Arrange and equip apartment and room set-ups for new residents (following agreed lists)

Ensure compliance with HSE standards across all cleaning laundry activities.

Enforce safe use of chemicals, machinery and PPE.

Support risk assessments and safety inspections.

Report accidents, incidents or hazards promptly.

Ensure safeguarding expectations are followed when working around students
