Job Description

Position:       Data and MIS Intern
Reporting to:   Data and MIS Specialist
Position Type: Temporary Fixed-Time Contract

 

Role Overview: This internship is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in data management and Management Information Systems (MIS) to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic professional environment.

 

The successful candidate will support data management, reporting, MIS administration, and data quality activities while contributing to the effective use of information to support school operations and decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field.
  • 0–1-year Proven experience in data management, database administration, or MIS development.

 

Skills & Competencies
Desirable

  • Experience of working in a school and with school systems is desired but training will be provided for the successful candidate.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or others.

Essential

  • Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations.
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Student Data Management:
    Assist with the accurate entry, updating, and maintenance of student, staff, and school records on the Management Information System (MIS).
  • Verify and validate data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Support the maintenance of confidential student records in line with the school’s data protection policies.

Reporting & Data Analysis:

  • Assist in preparing attendance, assessment, behaviour, safeguarding, and other school performance reports.
  • Help analyse school data to identify trends and support informed decision-making.
  • Liaising with relevant authorities where required.

MIS & Systems Support:

  • Support data imports, exports, and system updates as required.
  • Assist staff with basic MIS and reporting queries, escalating issues where necessary.

Administrative Support: 

  • Organise and maintain electronic records and data documentation.
  • Support departmental projects aimed at improving data quality and reporting processes.

Data Protection Support:

  • Ensure all data handling complies with school policies and data protection requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and administrative staff to ensure timely and accurate data submissions.

Safeguarding and Pastoral Responsibilities

  • Comply fully with Charterhouse Lagos safeguarding and child-protection policies, procedures and professional expectations.
  • Always maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students.
  • Remain alert to signs that a child may be at risk of harm, abuse, neglect or exploitation.
  • Report any safeguarding or child-protection concern immediately through the school’s established safeguarding procedures.
  • Respond appropriately if a student makes a disclosure, listening carefully without investigating or promising confidentiality and reporting the concern promptly.
  • Record safeguarding concerns accurately, factually and promptly using the school’s established procedures.
  • Understand and follow the school’s procedures relating to concerns or allegations about the conduct of adults working with children.
  • Promote safe and responsible behaviour, including appropriate online behaviour and use of technology.
  • Complete required safeguarding and child-protection training and maintain up-to-date knowledge of school procedures.
  • Contribute to the pastoral care, safety and wellbeing of students during lessons, activities, supervision and boarding duties.
  • Report any concern about a student’s welfare, regardless of whether it appears directly connected to their EAL needs.
